Tai Chi

Current Classes (last update - 23 November 2009)
_______________________________________________________

This is the current list of my classes in the Bradford and Calderdale area.

Please contact me before attending or for the latest information on new classes.

Uninvited casual visitors will not be admitted.

From previous experience I've found that children generally do not easily take to learning the slow movements of Tai Chi so the minimum age to attend a class is now 18.

If you have previous experience of Yang Style Tai Chi it may be possible for you to join an existing class. Please contact me to discuss.

Bradford (Saltaire) classes cost £5.00 per session with concessions down to £2.50 for students and those on benefits. Hebden Bridge classes cost £8.00 per session with concessions down to £4.00 for students and those on benefits. Classes run in terms of 10-12 weeks with fees payable in advance for each term.

Queensbury beginners classes usually cost around £3 per session payable weekly.

Class Content

Classes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays concentrate on the health aspects of Tai Chi
The aim is to improve physical health and emotional and mental well-being.

The first 30 minutes or so are Chi Kung (Qi Kong) exercises designed to promote muscle and joint movement and improve energy flow.

The Thursday class is for those interesed in the self defense capacities of Tai Chi and involves partner work with gloves, mitts, shields, body and head armour. Also form applications, push hands and Da Lu.

Suitable Clothing

If you wish to wear traditional Chinese peasant gear (aka Kung Fu suit) you are welcome
but you will be in a minority of one.

There are no ranks/grades in any of the classes. So there are no uniforms and badges or any other such nonsense.

Any loose comfortable clothing will do.

The Saltaire venue can get quite hot so arrange your clothing so you can get down to a T shirt. The floor is carpeted so trainers, "kung fu slippers", or bare feet are OK.

The Hebden Bridge venue has a lino floor and the temperature averages about 19 degrees C so an extra layer may be useful.

The Queensbury venue has a lino floor and the temperature varies a bit so an extra layer may be useful.
